Menstrual Cycles

How to make an easy post: 1) Upload a record I already have on the computer. 2) Snag a sleeve from a fantastic resource like Collector Scum. 3) Let Sound Idea tell you what they know about the 7"..... "I have seen a few copies of the Menstral Cycles "1/2 Skin 1/2 Punk" 7", but few people can give me any more info on them. I have been told that the singer moved to Florida from England and that he tried to get the band signed to Riot City, but that never happened. The Menstral Cycles record was self released in 1983 on Cycles 1. The band address and phone number is from Hialeah, a small town near Miami. The record was produced by David Camp, who also recorded F, but none of those guys know anything about The Menstrual Cycles."
Although this record isn't that spectacular in my opinion, it may satisfy any Florida rarities obsession you might have-
Retirement Home
Rejected From The Premises
Kill The President
Oi! Warning

Yeah, the Menstrual Cycles were definitely in the UK for a while as I saw those guys at the 100 Club supporting Broken Bones in Dec '84, and I have some photos to prove it. Great to hear them again after twenty two years - thanks !!!

Nice one, yeah! Found a copy of this in London in 1986 but the cover was missing unfortunately - glad to see it pictured here!
I keep checking this blog for months now and only wish there's be more to read and see. Great work!

May I promote my newly started music-blog here? It's called "Good Bad Music", check my profile.

That is some funny shit. I knew Mario too. He was my friend but I lost touch with him years ago. This band started in my living room using some of my brother's sound gear and instruments and my motorbike. I left the group before the final recordings were done for this record. I wrote some of the songs for the band's first gig. I left the band because I was bored and preferred clubbing and some girl. The music sucked and I always hoped to start my own act, but gave up. Mario, I wish you well, you were a true friend when I needed one.

I also knew Mario from his many trips over to the UK from Florida, back in the early 80's. Our social group back then was made up of punks & skins too! He was a lovely friendly good-looking guy with the best smile & a wicked punk hairdo which must have taken him hours each morning with the soap & hairspray! His hair was similar looking to the punk side of the EP cover only much better!- with huge black spikes all over! We used to bump into him all over the place in central London- we were all easy to spot!!- & often hung out with him around the Twickenham & Richmond area where some of us lived. He talked a lot about the mix of people in the band & he visited record companies every day touting his record & always had 100's of copies of this E.P. with him which is how I got my copy! He was extremely hard-working & motivated & it was always obvious that he would succeed in the business somehow. You have to be resilient to keep going in the face of rejection & he was always happy & great company no matter how many hours he'd been tramping around London! I'm certainly glad to have met him & known him & I'm very glad to own a pristine copy of their E.P. Cat, Richmond.

After saying I considered you a friend you curse me. Thought you were a decent fellow back then. Suppose I might have been wrong.

I dated Shock (Mario) when I lived in Hialeah. I was always grounded and couldn't hang with him as much as I wanted :(
