The Mob

Everything is now back on track and I shouldn't have any more bandwidth issues so on to a new post-
I've written about The Mob before without realizing their Upset The System 7" and We Come To Crush LP were released together on CD at one time. Although I'm pretty sure the CD is now out of print this leaves only the Step Forward 7" to have not seen the light of day since 1983. It stacks up well against their other releases and is one of my favorite early NYHC records-
Step Forward
Revolution
Unity Lives On

this is really strange...i was just about to post this one the other night myself, but due to the time restraints i was going to post it today.
Ive heard some people say this single is better the their first outting but id have to disagree. I like the mob and have been a fan since day one...but i love Upset The System, now that is a classic nyhc single.
Keep 'em coming!

I picked up both singles @85 so I'm not sure which one I'm partial to since I heard them at the same time. Unfortunately I don't have either one of them anymore- ditched them in a "I'm sick of hardcore" mood. I've been in that mood at various times which is why I don't have many records left. That's why I'm sure glad people do these sites!

Classic. Christ, I love The Mob.

Jeff - there was indeed another band called The Mob and they were actually pretty good, though much different. If you've ever heard New Model Army, that's a lot like what the other cats sounded like...

I picked up The Mirror Breaks/Stay 7" thinking it was the NY Mob at a time when I didn't even know there was a UK Mob. Didn't like it at the time but then again it was not what I was expecting. The US Mob has 2 7"s, an LP, and a live recording (on CD?) from a radio broadcast and I think that's it.

That's pretty much how I found out about the UK Mob too, malfeitor. I copped a CD, which ended up being their discography, and I liked it because I had just gotten really into NMA ("Vengeance" is a great tune).

That said, they certainly don't compare to the real Mob!

Funny story on how I scammed a copy of this 7": I used to be in a band called Sweet Diesel, who Another Planet Records, the label that put out the 'No Rules In This Game' CD, were interested in signing. I also used to write for a fanzine called Sound Views and when that CD came out they sent my friend Lee, who ran the 'zine, an original copy of the "Step Forward" 7" as a way of saying thanks for some ads he had run. I was jealous as shit. Sure enough when we went up to the Another Planet offices to meet with them, at the end of the meeting I was like "Hey man, you got anymore of those Mob 7"s lying around?" and they gave me one.

I got mine for 50 cents in a bargain bin. Then I got rid of it. Why???????!!!!!!

I pulled out the CD from that other Mob the other day and for some reason I have a different opinion now. There's like 3 good songs, the rest are extremely boring. Just saying...
