U.S. Chaos

Long ago in the era of Quincy/Chips punk rock paranoia my parents decided that hardcore music was an awful influence and I returned home one day to find all of my records laid out and my Mom and Pop were going through them. I knew this wasn't good and tried to explain that there was a wide diversity of opinion in the music- for every Gang Green drunken rambling there was a Minor Threat, a Feederz 7" countered by Rock For Light by Bad Brains, and if it seemed like every punk band had a disagreement with US policy (and government, militarism, etc. in general) well there was always US Chaos. With a whole host of conservative leaning issues set to super catchy american Oi, how could they resist. They could. They took all of my records, gave my punk shirt collection to the thrift store, and even snapped that Jesus 7" in half. My copy of the We've Got The Weapons 12" by US Chaos is long gone but it's still (I think) available on CD from GEMM if you look around, and it includes some live tracks and this 7"-

they took a lot of heat for being considered poseurs in NJ back in the day. Fake british accents, animal print amps...I remember them getting heckled off the stage at CBGBs once. Their popularity with some white power skins didn't really help dispell the prevailing opinion of 'em!

Wow, accents and animal prints. Somehow the 12" is starting to sound a little less interesting......

Yeah, they were kind of hokey, but goddamn that early stuff is amazing. "American" is one of the best US Oi! tracks ever. (Looks like you can download a lot of that stuff from the site you linked to.) Nice post.

I couldn't determine if their stuff was out of print or not so I decided to just post the 7", the 12" is better in my opinion and worth checking out. The CD contains it all.

wow, i'm actually on a blog.the british accent i can attest to was total bull!@#%.it was my style of singing and to some maybe it sounded british. why would a person singing pro american songs want to sound like a limey? and the leopard skins? well, you have to be a product of late 70's early 80's punk to understand, not just reading a book about what punk was like 27 years ago...thanks evryone

wow. US Chaos aside - had that exact same experience with the parents. It was the "I Kill Children" poster that totally freaked my folks out.

Unfortunately, the person who saw the stuff in the trash (I wasn't around) didn't grab it.
I was crushed when they asked "I saw all your stuff by the curb - what happened?".

Had good times seeing U.S.Chaos. They threw good parties at this big house some of the guys from the band lived in. Met cool people there as well; Crazy Patty, some Brazilian guy named Marcos, the No-Show Brothers, Johnny Basic to name a few.

u.s. chaos , people can say what they want ,thats the american way , but when they comment about things they know little about , it shows their stupidity , and u,s, chaos has paid its dues , dont like the idea of having leopard print amps , maybe your not punk and just a poser ,because a true punk would,nt care to begin with what the amps are covered with as long as the amps are making lots and lots of noise! ..spikey

U.S.Chaos has withstood the test of time ! Playing shows for almost 35 years they paid there dues , People still come out in droves to their shows but whats amazing is the younger crowds comming out and singing their songs by heart as if they,ve been following the band for the past 35 years! To be able to play your music and have another generation follow you you gotta be doing something right , The older release albums and 45,s are a collectors dream fetching as much as $200 bucks on Ebay, The last show i saw them at was a place called Crossroads in Garwood N.J. doing a Dirt Club reunion with the Accelerators and a bunch of punk bands that also played the Dirt back in the day ! The Dirt was one of the east coasts famous places like what CBGB,S was to New York , Chaos has played with some of the greatest Hardcore and punk bands from all over the world like the Exploited /G.B.H. /999/T.S.O.L./Corosion of Comformity/The beastie boyz/The Runaways(JoanJett)Angelic Upstarts/Kraut/Iron Cross/Black market Babys/U.K.Subs/Johnny Thunders/Agnostic Front/The Cromags/Sick of it all/The Violators/just to name a few ! If you get a chance to see them and want to feel good about hearing Pro American punk songs and have a great time seeing them in action because they are alot of fun to watch atleast once in your lifetime
