Fiends

(Not to be confused with The Fiends, Fiendz, More Fiends, etc.) Fiends were basically a really dumb rock band with a punk edge that put out 2 LPs that I know of. Gynecology I've never heard, but I've always been a big fan of 1984's We've Come For Your Beer released on Bemisbrain Records. It's 12 tracks of juvenile rock trash- maybe it's nostalgia but I still like it. I doubt anyone is planning on a reissue, so here is a sampling-

tracks removed to free up space.

Oh man the Fiends! I've been looking to re-find this record forEVER! Any way you could post the rest? Maybe? Possibly? Perhaps?

Give me an email address & I'd be happy to put the record online in a private folder so you can download it there, full LPs just take up too much space. I knew someone else out there liked this record!

Sean Gwin, bass player,is my brother and passed away on October 13, 2005. It's nice to know others appreciated his off the cuff work. He was happiest when he was enjoying his music. My life will never be the same because he was in it, nor will it ever recover because he isn't.

Ditto my brother Kevin's responses. Sean was the best and was loved by all who know him. He will be missed by all, and has taken a huge chunk of my heart with him. Thank God I have two more of the greatest brothers in the world to help me through this. I love and miss you, Uncle Spider-eater

Sorry to hear about your brother. I've enjoyed this album since it first came out and got a spin on my local (100 watt style Community College) station's punk show. The DJ used to play the hell out of side 1 tracks 1-3. I'm glad your brother took the time to record it, the world is better place with We've Come For Your Beer in it!

he Jackie and Kevin, if you happen to see this posting more than a month after the orignal entries, I'm very sorry too to hear that your brother has died.
I also grew up within range of a 100 watt university radio station in St. Louis and first encountered punk while listening to it.
The fiends were among some of the tunes that they often played; anyway, that's how I got turned on to punk back back in 1984 or so.

I have loved these dudes FOREVER!!!
My parents met them in California (I am Canadian) the one guy even took his girlfriends shirt (still smelling of perfume...mmm) and gave it to my mom to give to me. I have both vinyls and have been too lazy to mp3 them. PLEASE someone post them!!!!!!!!

Hello Fiend lovers,
I am another one of those losers who let go of their "Beer" album. I've been kicking myself since for FIFTEEN YEARS!!! Can anyone tell me where to find this album again? "Gynocology" (I know I spelled it wrong) was also a cool album of theirs that I had the fortune of finding, and then letting that one go as well.
Let me know, someone.

Dear Sean,

Today is your birthday. You would have been 47 today. I wish I had the words to express how much I miss you - my baby brother. I think of you often; every day. I cannot rid myself of that horrible memory of losing you. That horrible period when they told us that you were gone - and the decision that we made - had to make, really. I trust that you would have had it no other way. Even more, I remember the chances that I might have had to change the way things were going. Why did I not do more? Steal you away from your demons? I wish I had done more. I wish I had. Oh, how I wish I had. I think of that every day, as well.

I love you. I will always love you and miss you.

Mark

A friend just took my LPs and put them on disc for me. It's nice to see other Fiends fiends out there. It's sad to hear about the losses of band members. Those of you looking for the LPs, keep watching eBay...that's where I re-acquired the Beer album.

It's cool to see that this LP is still getting attension, it's a lot of fun!

Sean was one of my best friends. We worked together at Warner and we hung out all the time and stayed in touch while I went off to Grad School and started a new career.

No matter where we were we never missed Knott's Scary Farm and Sean, even though he hated roller coasters, always get on one for me. I think about him EVERY DAY and I miss him more than I'll ever be able to express in words. One thing I'll always be happy about is knowing that Sean met my daughter Sydney, who was 13 months old at the time, before he left us/me.

So sorry to learn of Sean's passing. I worked with him and Scott Morrow and the third member of their band, Dan Willis, at the LA Weekly in the mid-80s and still have my copy of Where's The Beer, which one of the guys gave me. I had a crush on Sean, he must have known it, and I've thought of him often over the years. I am so sad to learn that both Sean and Scott are gone. They were fun and special and I will remember them always with great affection.

With regard to viagra and erectile dysfunction, it is already apparent that Viagra was first developed as a treatment for angina but later the drug emerged to be a suitable cure for male impotency but far more striking news is presently capturing the attention of the whole world. Seems Untrue! Well, it is doubtlessly true that oysters fed with the anti-impotency drug Viagra has shown effective results against erectile dysfunction and George May, the Australian farmer who created Viagra oysters became thoroughly popular after the news relating to the efficacy of his Viagra oysters leaked out. Guys! If cheap viagra can make oysters so powerful against erectile dysfunction then why won’t you be able to combat your impotency successfully after you buy viagra? Opt for Viagra via viagra online and once you buy Viagra online and administer the drug in accordance with the instructions of the doctor, you would instantly get cured of erectile dysfunction!

Before the Fiends, Scott Morrow played guitar in my band David and the Happenings at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, IL. That was way back in 1980 - 1981. Scott and I had so much in common: Iggy & the Stooges, B movies, girls, and offbeat humor. We must have watched Ed Wood's Plan 9 from Outer Space a dozen times. Scott was my friend until the end. He could always make me laugh. I'll miss you forever, Scott.

Even in the most sexually liberated and self-satisfied of nations, many people still yearn to burn more, to feel ready for bedding no matter what the clock says and to desire their partner of 23 years as much as they did when their love was brand new.
The market is saturated with books on how to revive a flagging libido or spice up monotonous sex, and sex therapists say “lack of desire” is one of the most common complaints they hear from patients, particularly women.

Both records are great. Rocking MC5 cover on the first. I liked it because it was more punk and roll than the hardcore of that era. I see copies of the 1st LP on Amazon.

My 5 brothers and I have fought over ownership of the Fiends Gynecology album for 20+years. It is one of our favorites. We have hosted parties around that album. we never knew anything about the band and have tried to find more of their work. Unfortunately Gynecology was the only one we ever found but we heard there was Gravedigger and We've Come for the Beer. Are any of these available in mp3 anywhere?

thanks for posting. Also to the friends and family of the band members who passed away, my sympathies. I haven't heard this stuff for over 20 years and I still remember "Die Bob Die" like it was yesterday. A hilarious song that helped me get into punk for all the right reasons. More bands need that irreverent spirit. Reminds me of the Meatmen, Angry Samoans, Mentors, et al. but unfortunately Fiends were much more obscure. They get extra props for using a still from an obscure sci-fi film called "Invisible Invaders" as the cover art. Cheers!
