Upright Citizens

Upright Citizens were a German band that released 3 records (Bombs of Peace in 1982, Make the Future Mine and Yours in 1983, and Faces and Views in 1985) before compiling some of this material on their Better Youth Organization release Open Eyes, Open Ears, Brains To Think, & a Mouth To Speak. Most of the material was rerecorded for the '85 BYO LP but I'm not sure how different they sound, since I've never heard (or seen for that matter) these previous records. They rounded out the eighties with another LP (Kiss Me Now) and a 7" (Farewell). They may have released an album in the 90's entitled Colour Your Life (I assume it's the same band). I don't have much in the way of biographical information, so hopefully someone else can share some. Maybe they're more well known in their home country. Here's some tracks from their awesome BYO record.....

tracks removed to free up space.

i bought the LP used in a record store like 12 years ago... only seen it in one person's collection since then. then like 3 years ago, i got a copy of "Make The Future Mine & Yours" on LP. sweet! i have never seen any of their other releases though, unfortunately. they were such a great band!

and by the way, "Colour Your Life" was one of theirs. it was recorded in the mid 90's & kinda lacked that umph that the early records had. it was only released on CD (lame). it's still not a bad album though.

In germany the Upright Citizens were pretty famous (in the punk scene). They came from Bottrop and were the first german band touring in the USA and having a record released on an american label.
